We're on a Seafood Diet...
& It’s really simple. We’re eating everything we sea. Haha!
But really, when Chef Kristen is cooking for us at the Treefort it’s not that hard to do. All corny jokes aside we think seafood is a super-food. In honor of the launch of our new line of seafood marinades, we want to remind you of the many health benefits that these treats from the sea have to offer!
Seafood is an easily digestible source of high-quality protein, healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals. We try our best to eat at least two servings of nutritionally dense seafood each week, and strive to make a wide variety of choices. Most types of seafood are full of heart healthy polyunsaturated fats and omega-3 fatty acids. Make sure to be careful about consuming fish that are known to be high in mercury (such as shark, swordfish, king mackerel, etc.). Mercury has very harmful side effects on the body.
Whenever possible, we recommend buying sustainably harvested seafood. We’re lucky to be launching our new line of seafood marinades at the Annapolis Wholefoods Market, which is known to have high standards for sustainability in seafood harvesting, and offers a rating system to help customers make informed purchases.
