Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food
Spring is here (finally!) and what better place to witness the abundance of growth and life than on a family farm? Caleb, our “Texas rover,” was so fortunate to be invited to tour Yonder Way Farm and has returned with some humbling tales to tell.
Caleb didn’t want to waste his favorite Tessemae’s sauce on just any old factory farmed food, so he traveled down to Fayetteville TX in search of the most humanely and healthily produced meat that he could find. At Yonder Way, he found just what he was looking for.
Owners Lynsey and Jason Kramer have made conscious decisions to think outside of the box, and operate their farm in a way that attempts to “reestablish the almost-lost art of grass farming.” They are passionate about providing healthful, and responsibly raised food to local areas, and simply lead by example. Their farm offers grass-fed beef and pastured pork, chicken, and eggs. Not only do they let their animals roam outdoors, and enjoy fresh air and sunshine (a rare thing in farming these days, believe it or not) but the Kramer’s are even super thoughtful about the ingredients that go into animal’s feed, which are all free of corn and soy.
We know that we make some pretty great sauce, but another important part of our mission at Tessemae’s is to inspire you to carefully consider everything that you eat. In this case, we chose to focus on the way our food is produced. When we come across folks who share a similar passion for spreading the good food word, we get excited. Yonder Way: Thanks for doing what you do.
Farms like Yonder Way are popping up all over the country, so this spring we ask that you try to get out there and get to know the people who grow your food.
